About Us
West Sussex County Council (WSCC) is dedicated to providing essential transport services for children and vulnerable individuals throughout the County.
As a vital member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in helping vulnerable individuals achieve optimal personal outcomes by ensuring a dependable and secure transport service.
About the Role
Salary: £25,119 to £26,421 per annum, £19,740 to £20,763 pro rata.
Location: Your primary office will be based at Drayton Depot, located in a rural area. Regular attendance at the office and site visits is expected, though remote work arrangements can be discussed based on service needs.
Contract: This is a permanent position, working term-time only for 44 weeks each year, in addition to 6.4 weeks of annual leave.
Working Pattern: Part-time, 30 hours per week, with flexible working options available, subject to agreement with your line manager. Some shifts may be split to accommodate school visits, and flexibility will be guided by operational requirements.
Employer Pension Contribution: 19.70%, subject to annual adjustments each April.
As the Transport Coordination Assistant, your primary focus will be on enhancing passenger care. This involves ensuring a safe transport experience for individuals with complex needs who may require medical assistance during their journeys. You will oversee the Passenger Assistants and Health Care Assistants responsible for delivering necessary care to these passengers.
Our service operates throughout the county, facilitating the transport of children to and from school. Our Passenger Assistants (PAs) serve as chaperones and possess basic first aid training.
Your responsibilities will include supervising approximately 40 PAs in a designated area of the county, which encompasses:
- Providing guidance and training to staff.
- Coordinating with drivers and external service providers.
- Facilitating communication with parents and educational institutions.
