Quality Assurance Measurement Specialist


Job Purpose
The Quality Assurance Measurement function offers expertise in measurement to support essential engineering tasks, ranging from product performance validation to the development of innovative products. The Quality Assurance Measurement Specialist will employ a variety of advanced measurement technologies and facilities to aid in the progression of state-of-the-art internal combustion engine technology, contributing towards the goal of achieving carbon neutrality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Execute product inspection tasks in accordance with design specifications.
2. Generate comprehensive inspection reports and effectively communicate technical information with key stakeholders.
3. Assist in the development of inspection methodologies and measurement processes.
4. Collaborate with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
5. Ensure that requirements, specifications, and procedures are clearly defined and documented.
6. Contribute to ongoing quality enhancement initiatives.
7. Oversee equipment calibration and maintenance.
8. Ensure compliance with Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Management System standards (IATF 16949).

Skills

Mandatory:

• Strong foundational knowledge of dimensional metrology and precision engineering.
• Prior experience utilizing microscopes and both contact and optical 3D measurement systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to acquire new skills.
• Capability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines when necessary.
• Good understanding of 5S principles and workplace organization.

Desirable:

• Familiarity with diesel common rail fuel injection systems and diesel engine test environments.
• Practical knowledge of surface measurement techniques and standards.
• Experience in developing measurement programs (preferably with Zygo and Taylor Hobson surface measurement instruments).
• Proficiency in using 3D metrology software, preferably Polyworks.
• Understanding of traceability, measurement uncertainty, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).

Qualifications/Educational/Experience

Mandatory:

• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the related field.

Desirable:

• Master’s degree in metrology or a precision engineering discipline.
