The University of Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to fill the Ashby Postdoctoral Fellowship in Mechanics and Materials. This prestigious fellowship is designed to support outstanding researchers in the field of mechanics and materials, and provides a unique opportunity to pursue independent research and contribute to the university's vibrant research community.
Research OpportunitiesThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to pursue research in the general area of mechanics and materials, with a focus on additive manufacturing, micro- and nano-mechanics, and coupled phenomena relevant to mechanical engineering. The candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing research in the Mechanics and/or Materials Groups, and will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of research activities.
Requirements- PhD in a relevant field (recently awarded or close to completion)
- Outstanding promise in experimental and/or theoretical research
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
The Ashby Postdoctoral Fellow will be affiliated with Pembroke College, with the opportunity to engage in College life and develop their teaching experience. The College affiliation will carry benefits, including dining rights and the opportunity to interact with College Fellows across a wide range of disciplines.
Salary and TermsThe salary for this position will be in the range of £31,396 - £44,263, depending on experience. The post is fixed-term for 3 years, with the possibility of extension.
