Job Summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking to recruit Porters to join our well-established team. As a Porter, you will play a vital role in providing portering services to cover all wards and departments, ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Transferring patients between wards and departments
  • Handling waste and responding to security concerns
  • Moving furniture and equipment
  • Performing mortuary duties

You will receive full training when you start, including Moving and Handling, Fire Training, and training in methods of restraint. You will also receive training in the use of the electronic Helpdesk.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and its bordering counties. We provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health, and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Literacy and numeracy skills
  • Basic Health & Safety, COSHH, Moving & Handling, and Food Hygiene knowledge

Desirable qualifications include a good level of general education, a Food Safety Level 2 Certificate, a Welcome Host Certificate, and Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling training.

You will also need experience of dealing with the general public and experience of handling difficult or violent persons. Training in similar portering duties is also desirable.

Able to work flexibly as required, you will also need a driving licence to drive Health Board vehicles.
