Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Design Engineer to join our team at Gerrell & Hard. As a key member of our Engineering department, you will play a crucial role in supporting the design and development of our electrical control systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical control systems for automotive applications, including DC and AC systems.
  • Produce detailed designs, specifications, and documentation for electrical control systems, including block diagrams, schematics, and wiring drawings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical control systems with other systems and components.
  • Develop and maintain software controls specifications for system design, including CAN/LIN and SENT applications.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and customization of electrical control components.
  • Manage the testing phase of software to ensure system operates as specified.
  • Assist in the development of user and maintenance instructions for machines.
  • Conduct site visits to customers and suppliers as required.
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years recent industry-based experience in automotive DC electrical design engineering.
  • Be proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Solidworks, or similar CAD software.
  • Have experience with temperature, pressure regulation, and control loops.
  • Be able to interpret relevant BS/EN/ISO standards and apply to system design.
  • Have experience with commissioning of electrical systems, controls, and panels.
  • Be able to work both as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BEng in Electrical Engineering.
  • Working towards professional registration (IEng or CEng).
  • Full UK Driver's license.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
