Job Title: Senior Overhead Line Engineer

WSP USA is seeking a highly skilled Senior Overhead Line Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our transmission line project team, you will be responsible for supervising a team of design engineers specializing in overhead transmission lines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare written proposals outlining project timelines, resource allocation, budget, objectives, and goals.
  • Provide technical guidance and input throughout project implementation, statutory planning, and public consultation events.
  • Lead engineering and design activities related to overhead line projects, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis, and loading trees.
  • Develop design criteria, sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor blowout, swing angle, damper system recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, conductor, and insulator selection.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably electrical or power engineering.
  • Experience in overhead line engineering up to 400kV.
  • Experience in upgrading work projects, such as utilizing high-temperature low-sag conductors.
  • Knowledge of conducting galloping studies, EMF and field effects calculation, wake effect, AC interference for gas pipelines.
  • Ability to travel as projects dictate.
