Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement design solutions using AutoCAD / Inventor
- Direct engineers/designers in the production of complex design solutions
- Produce simple calculations and direct engineers/designers in the production of complex calculations
- Check the work of others to ensure design deliverables are produced to a high standard and compliant with all relevant internal and client procedures
- Produce technical documents such as Basis of Design, Testing Strategies/Schedules, Method Statements, etc.
- Take ownership of design deliverables throughout the design, construction, installation, commissioning, operations, and decommissioning phases of a project
- Ensure the Design Intent is maintained
- Produce and check CDM Risk Registers
- Produce and check documentation required for Technical Files of new products/plant and equipment
- Presentation of technical solutions to clients and others in both formal and informal settings
- Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs
- Support in the development of project safety case, including HAZID and HAZOP attendance, production of basis of safety documents (Hazard Management Strategy), and engineering substantiation (design/engineering justification)
- Develop estimates, deliverables required, and programme logic at bid/tender stage
- Provide input into cost to complete
- Manage a team of engineers/designers to deliver the engineering scope as required by the project
- Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company's capabilities
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations
- Produce and assess concessions and technical queries
- Prepare and review quality plans for single discipline work packages
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
- Chartered Member of the IMechE (preferred)
- Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes, and directives and how they should be applied
- Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to mechanical design
- Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products/plant and equipment
- Detail design knowledge of mechanical mechanisms or bespoke equipment for Nuclear use
- Knowledge of relevant drawing standards BS8888, BS5070, and BS EN
- Relevant experience in the Nuclear Industry
