Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Logistics Manager to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our Supply Chain Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of day-old chicks across the UK and EU.

About the Role

As Logistics Manager, you will work closely with colleagues across the business and 3rd party logistics providers to plan and manage the transportation of day-old chicks. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure full compliance with all necessary regulations, including driver, transport, animal welfare, and health & safety.
  • Transportation Planning and Budgeting
    • Plan and manage the transport budget to ensure the most cost-effective delivery of day-old chicks.
  • Quality and Bio-Security
    • Champion and uphold bio-security and bird welfare protocols and procedures.
  • Cost Management
    • Manage costs across the transport operation to ensure the most cost-effective delivery of day-old chicks.
  • Support and Investigation
    • Support the quality team in investigating complaints and ensuring strict adherence to biosecurity protocols and procedures.
  • Procurement and Vehicle Management
    • Assist in the arrangement of procurement and lease agreements for new vehicles.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 5 years management experience in a similar role
  • CPC qualified and member of Animal Transport Association
  • Good knowledge of animal welfare regulations
  • Good working knowledge of customs procedures and animal health regulations for export from GB to EU and NI
  • Valid class 1 HGV desirable although not essential
