About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team at Bupa. As a key member of our Property and Facilities team, you will be responsible for managing a team of maintenance operatives and gardeners to ensure the smooth operation of our care homes across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of maintenance operatives and gardeners to ensure the maintenance of our care homes to a high standard.
- Assist in the management of the repairs and maintenance revenue budgets for the portfolio.
- Cover maintenance operative duties in allocated care homes where required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Bupa Standard Operating Procedures and relevant legislation and industry best practice.
- Manage asset, planned and reactive maintenance and regulatory compliance across the allocated portfolio.
- Undertake quarterly maintenance audits and report on issues relating to building fabric condition, infection control, and environmental health.
- Contribute to the safe running of the care homes via the care homes health and safety committee.
- Provide support to the care home and wider property team as required.
Requirements
- Experience of managing a team.
- Current blue CSCS card for a 'skilled worker' is essential.
- Good understanding of building services, including heating, hot and cold-water distribution, ventilation, electrical distribution, and plumbing.
- Good understanding of building fabric and its maintenance.
- Practical experience of planned maintenance systems and record keeping.
- Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and experience of compliance.
- Building/electrical/plumbing qualification or a minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience in property maintenance and general repairs.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Computer literate and experience of using maintenance software systems.
- Good customer service skills.
- Able to take part in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in a site estate management role.
- Experience in the management of consultants, contractors, and contracted suppliers.
- Previous experience in the care services industry.
- Evidence of managing building projects on time, to required quality, and within budget.
- Previous experience of delivering training.
