Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Assistant to join our finance team at Reed. This role is ideal for someone who is AAT fully qualified or part qualified ACCA or CIMA, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in financial accounting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Transactions: Check bank statements and update the cashbook for all currencies daily.
  • Purchase Ledger Management: Process purchase ledger invoices, including retrieving information, posting, and checking VAT amounts.
  • AP Ledger Maintenance: Maintain AP ledgers, spreadsheets, and reports, ensuring documents are authorised as per company procedures.
  • Nominal Ledger Management: Manage the nominal ledger, sales ledger journals, recurring and monthly journals.
  • Payment Processing: Match purchase invoices with purchase orders/GRNs and prepare weekly payment runs and cash flow forecasts.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Upload payments on the bank's net banking system and post and allocate payments received and sent.
  • Supplier Communication: Communicate with suppliers via phone or email and check purchase ledger statements.
  • Document Management: Archive accounts documents, including scanning AP documentation onto SAGE 200.
  • Ad-hoc Tasks: Assist with VAT preparation, processing staff credit card expenses, and raising customer credit notes.
  • Fixed Assets Management: Maintain and update the fixed assets register and issue intercompany invoices or debit notes.
  • Month-end Procedures: Carry out month-end procedures and ad-hoc reporting and finance or operations-related tasks.
Requirements:
  • AAT fully qualified or part qualified ACCA or CIMA.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in financial accounting.
  • Experience with SAGE 200 or equivalent accounting package.
  • Proficiency in ERP System and Excel (up to VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables).
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines with high attention to detail.
  • Strong team-working skills and the ability to chase approvals when necessary.
