Job Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Support Worker to join our team at Devon County Council. As a Care Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our service users with varying levels of need and dependency.

Main Responsibilities

  • To contribute to delivering the care needs of all service users as per assessed need within individual care plans.
  • To administer prescribed medication under the supervision of the team leader and in accordance with relevant standards.
  • To assist with service user admissions and discharges effectively, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • To work in a way that ensures vulnerable service users are safeguarded and their rights are respected.
  • To liaise with other agencies and professionals, including care management staff and residential unit staff, as necessary.
  • To contribute to records that ensure compliance with relevant standards and policies.
  • To assist in maintaining the safety and security of the premises, staff, and service users.
  • To contribute to health and safety and adherence to relevant legislation.
  • To report any issues of concern to the line manager.
  • To participate in the mentoring of new staff as part of the induction process.
  • To attend and contribute to meetings as necessary.
  • To assist with domestic tasks throughout the home.
  • To assist with minor catering duties, including food preparation and serving at meal times.
  • To conform to, actively commit to, and promote our customer service standards when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a sensitive and person-centered way, prioritizing the needs of service users.
  • Well-developed skills in delivering care and support, with a focus on individualized care plans.
  • Ability to work in a unified and flexible manner, contributing to a high-quality service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
