Job Overview
Reporting to the Senior Managing Engineer, this position entails a commitment of 40 hours per week, with additional overtime as necessary and participation in an out-of-hours standby rota.
Role Purpose
The primary objective of this role is to:
- Conduct scheduled maintenance with precision to ensure that the installed equipment:
- Operates reliably, minimizing breakdowns and downtime.
- Is safe for operation, ensuring all safety-critical components are functional.
- Maintains clear and updated maintenance documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.
- Execute both minor and major servicing on large compressors.
- Carry out pre-planned maintenance tasks to a high standard.
- Adhere to maintenance schedules to fulfill client and company expectations, ensuring seamless operation of all refrigeration systems.
- Collaborate with team members to devise effective solutions for challenging issues.
- Utilize parts efficiently, including management of delivery, collection, and returns.
- Accurately update service records and timekeeping information.
- Undertake additional tasks as required by Space Engineering Services to ensure operational efficiency.
- Conduct site or plant surveys upon request.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of all necessary paperwork.
- Assist and support the Senior Managing Engineer in covering absences.
- Keep clients and team members informed of potential issues and necessary actions for resolution.
- Fulfill all client and company logging requirements, such as maintenance reports and completion notes.
- Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota to provide 24/7 support to clients.
- Work closely with the Projects team to install new equipment.
- Obtain quotes for replacement parts as needed.

- Establish strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Be a vital member of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality reactive and proactive maintenance across various contracts.
- Collaborate with your line manager to meet contract objectives and KPIs.
- Ensure all team members consistently deliver high-quality work.
- Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, keeping clients updated on project progress and expected repair timelines.
- Adhere to health and safety standards and processes.
- Meet health and safety and quality benchmarks.
- Comply with other business standards, policies, and procedures.
- Utilize IT systems accurately for both Space Engineering and client needs, ensuring timely and relevant information is accessible.
- Exhibit positive driving habits as monitored through our Fleet Management Tools.

- Experience with CO2 systems.
