We are seeking a skilled School-Based Dentist to join our team at Community Health Center, Inc. in Waterbury, Connecticut.
This is a part-time position covering Crosby and Wilby High Schools, providing 16 hours of coverage per week.
Key Responsibilities- Provide diagnosis and treatment planning for routine and emergency dental patients.
- Offer general dentistry services to our target population, adhering to the mission and goals of CHC.
- Assist with the orientation, training, and development of dental clinical personnel, including students and residents.
- DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
- Residency: GPR or AEGD certification or 1-2 years of general dental clinical experience.
- Licensure: State of Connecticut dental license, NERB or Regional Dental Boards, DEA (Federal and State) active licensure.
- Interest in providing care to a diverse patient population.
- Written and oral bilingual fluency in a language spoken by our patient population (e.g., English/Spanish or English/Polish) is strongly preferred.
This role requires good to excellent manual dexterity and fine motor coordination, good vision, physical mobility and flexibility, good reflexes, and light lifting. You will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens through direct patient contact and must follow OSHA standards and universal precautions.
Communication SkillsExcellent verbal skills to communicate with patients and staff daily, good listening skills for understanding patients, and good penmanship and clear concise writing skills for dental record documentation.
Confidentiality of InformationConfidentiality of patient and business information is a requirement. You will have full access to patient medical records and encounter data and must maintain confidentiality according to CHC policies.
Significant Job Functions- Provides appropriate diagnosis and treatment planning of routine and emergency dental problems.
- Provides routine comprehensive and emergency dental treatment with an emphasis on preventive care.
- Maintains accurate documentation of all dental services.
- Ensures strict compliance with safety and infection control standards.
- Provides diagnosis, treatment, and referral for dental emergencies, after hours, for CHC patients, via on-call service.
