About GroupM

This role sits within the GroupM HQ Finance Team of GroupM UK Market, reporting into the Financial Controller.

The Role

The main purpose of this role is to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts for both GroupM management and WPP group (EMEA). This involves detailed variance analysis and exception reporting. You will also liaise with Finance Plus on Payables, Receivables, and Cartesis reporting. This position supports key financial objectives that promote driving efficiencies within the team and the wider business. Success in this role requires engagement with various parts of the business, often at different levels of seniority.

Responsibilities
  • Month-End Process & Year-End Reporting:
    • Calculate accruals and prepayments of costs, including inter-company, using IFRS principles, and prepare journals.
    • Prepare monthly Management Accounts reconciled to the Trial Balance.
    • Conduct monthly variance analysis (by comparing to budget/forecast) and exception reporting.
    • Prepare month-end folders in line with SOX controls.
    • Perform monthly & quarterly balance sheet reconciliations; ensure all salary control accounts are reconciled monthly.
    • Address any queries post month-end, such as AP mis-posting.
    • Review monthly payroll changes and investigate all changes from the prior month.
    • Reconcile monthly payroll to the rolling budget.
    • Report headcount to gross salaries on a monthly basis.
    • Assist with the SOX and year-end audit by providing all relevant information to the auditors.
  • Group / WPP Reporting:
    • Liaise with EMEA and Global teams to resolve reporting queries.
    • Submit commentaries to EMEA on a monthly basis.
    • Manage EMEA's new reporting requirements.
    • Prepare and submit quarterly packages.
    • Prepare and submit the year-end packages.
  • Business Partnering:
    • Provide business partnering through regular engagement with various business units.
    • Add value to operational teams through analysis, reporting, and insights.
  • Other & Periodic Tasks:
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and SOX requirements.
    • Continuously review current processes and implement improvements to enhance control or improve efficiencies.
    • Address Finance Plus on ad hoc queries.
    • Undertake ad hoc projects as required.
Skills & Behaviours

Essential:

  • Fully qualified accountant or equivalent (e.g., CIMA, ACCA)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of IFRS standards.
  • Experience with financial reporting systems.
