Job Description

Transport Planner Position Overview

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their team to assist in the continued growth and development of their operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Transport Management and experience in managing a planning team. They will be responsible for assisting in the management of total planning operations and managing drivers on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To conduct end of shift handover as applicable.
  2. To plan all drivers working on the day.
  3. Issuing instructions to departments and ensuring that all work is executed as planned - ensuring that planning systems are updated and all necessary system changes are actioned in real time.
  4. To ensure that all work is planned and amalgamated wherever possible, reducing the resources needed to execute the work.
  5. To ensure all collection and delivery times planned throughout the day and managed accordingly.
  6. Ensure service levels are met as a minimum.
  7. To control vehicles ensuring any major changes are replanned as required to meet customer demands.
  8. To ensure continual review of the day's workload as the day progresses.
  9. To answer all customer queries, involving your Manager where necessary.
  10. To ensure empty running is reduced to meet Company targets.

Requirements:

  1. Transport Management CPC - Highly Desirable.
  2. Experience Managing or Overseeing a planning team - Highly desirable.
  3. Previous experience using TMS and Planning systems.
  4. Experience in General Haulage - Highly Desirable.
  5. Experience managing driver's hours, tacho and infringements etc.
  6. Must have an excellent telephone manner.
  7. Excellent customer service skills.
