Job Title: Financial Accountant

This is a key role within the NHS, working with the Deputy Head of Financial Services and other key members of staff to support and maintain a robust financial control environment within the organisation. This extends beyond the Financial Services unit to the Charitable funds and other external reporting arrangements.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement capital accounting policies, within the overall requirements of the Trust's Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions.
  • Deliver the monthly accounting and reporting for the Trust's charity, working with the Deputy Head of Financial Services to take the accounts from Trial balance to Statutory accounts in formats suitable to be delivered to the relevant authorities, within regulatory deadlines.
  • Manage the Trust's Fixed Asset portfolio and performance of the capital programme to deliver timely and effective implementation without a breach of the Trust Capital Resource Limit.
  • Interpret and advise on existing or proposed changes to complex accounting policies and practices, contributing to the completion of the monthly Provider Finance Returns (PFRs) to NHSEI and to internal Board and Committee reporting.
  • Manage the Trust's Charity to ensure the Charity's obligations can be met from time to time.
