Job Description

This is a challenging and rewarding role within the Defence Nuclear Enterprise, where you will play a critical part in ensuring the successful delivery of the Replacement Warhead Programme.

As a Strategic Materials Requirements Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the programme's material requirements, working closely with the Replacement Warhead Engineering team, and ensuring that the programme's material needs are met.

You will also be responsible for leading on the development of relevant sections within the RW business cases, supporting the development of a communications plan to highlight RW materials requirements, and maintaining a RW Bill of Materials and demand signal.

Additionally, you will work closely with the Infrastructure and Materials team to deliver an aligned understanding of material requirements at the portfolio level, and develop a detailed understanding of the current and forecast materials stockpile to inform availability for the RWP.

This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the Defence Nuclear Enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the programme's material requirements
  • Lead on the development of relevant sections within the RW business cases
  • Support the development of a communications plan to highlight RW materials requirements
  • Maintain a RW Bill of Materials and demand signal
  • Work closely with the Infrastructure and Materials team to deliver an aligned understanding of material requirements at the portfolio level
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the current and forecast materials stockpile to inform availability for the RWP

Requirements:

  • Level 5 or above qualification in a technical discipline or equivalent relevant experience in a technical field
  • Post-joining: Nuclear Weapons Foundation Course; Z6; Advanced Weapons Tech Course (AWTC)

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Formal project/programme management qualification
  • Nuclear Fuel Life-Cycle Course
  • Relevant Warhead Safety Modules

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in the Defence Nuclear Enterprise
  • Knowledge of the design and manufacture of nuclear weapons
  • Awareness of 1958 Mutual Defence Agreement (MDA) and Polaris Sales Agreement (PSA)
