About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Firmware Software Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our firmware development team, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software for our CEM Access Control Hardware portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software solutions for our CEM Access Control Hardware portfolio, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including firmware, hardware, and quality assurance engineers, to drive innovation and meet business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, adhering to industry best practices and company standards.
  • Interface with other business functions to ensure seamless product delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to development processes, including design reviews, code reviews, and coding guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of new technologies in the field of security systems and embedded systems.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the UK.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development in C/C++ in an ARM RTOS and/or embedded Linux system.
  • Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics and Software, or similar degree.
  • Experience of developing within an Agile framework.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Methodical and accurate.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Evidence of mentoring/coaching software team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with multiple processor families.
  • RFID.
  • Hardware debugging tools.
  • Scripting languages.
  • Automated build systems.
  • Using network analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark).
  • UDP, TCP.
  • Linux Kernel knowledge.
  • Multi-process and multi-threading.
  • Asynchronous programming.
  • Open-Source Software Integration and Software Security Mechanisms.
