About the Role

This exciting opportunity is available for an ambitious psychiatrist to support a unique NHS trust undergoing transformation and maintaining safe and effective services during this period. Post-holders will be expected to take on an active role providing consultant leadership and oversight, including inpatient care, recovery services, early intervention in psychosis services, crisis resolution, and home treatment, as well as adult community mental health services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support and develop integrated care pathways.
  • Provide statutory clinical reports as requested.
  • Apply an evidence-based approach to clinical practice.
  • Provide clinical leadership in psychiatry to the multidisciplinary team, in cooperation with the Service Manager.
  • Promote multidisciplinary working.
  • Support the development of a seamless service and continuity of care that is patient-centered and respects social inclusion and cultural diversity.
  • Provide clinical support and supervision to multidisciplinary teams, including complex risk assessments.
  • Undertake Section 12 and Approved Clinician duties related to the Mental Health Act (1983), with reference to the current Code of Conduct of Practice.

We are currently working closely with other NHS Trusts to integrate our collective community, mental health, and learning disability services. Our new organization, to be known as Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust, is set to launch in July 2024.

The transformation will occur in staggered stages, with Hampshire CAMHS, part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, joining Southern Health in February 2024, and Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning in early May 2024. The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organization will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training, and partnership working.
