Senior Clinical Trials Coordinator Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Clinical Trials Coordinator to join our Clinical Oncology Research Teams at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the clinical research team with all aspects of clinical trials administration, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and trust policies.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Research Nurses and wider Clinical Research Team, including supervision of Band 4 Clinical Trial Coordinators when required.
  • Assist with monitoring administration of research grants or charitable grants, confirming appropriate payments are made, including remuneration of staff, by liaising with R&D Finance Department.
  • Oversee the efficient and timely setup of clinical trials, workforce planning, and maintenance of databases/spreadsheets, producing monthly progress reports on recruitment.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
    • Experience in clinical trial administration, including data management.
    • Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
    • Experience of staff supervision/management.
  • Desirable:
    • Relevant training courses in clinical research.
Key Skills and Knowledge
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of the clinical trials process.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
