About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced pharmacist to lead our clinical service within the pharmacy department at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Service Lead, you will be responsible for providing a safe and effective service to patients, working closely with the Clinical Lead Pharmacist and other lead clinical pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a clinical service to wards, discharge, and outpatient services
  • Attend clinical ward rounds, clinical, and multidisciplinary meetings as appropriate
  • Regularly record clinical interventions and activities
  • Provide specialist pharmaceutical information to medical, nursing, and other staff within the trust
  • Promote the safe, appropriate, and economic use of drugs
  • Counsel and advise patients on the use of medicines
  • Take part in the emergency on-call pharmacist rota, providing medicines information, advice, and supply out of hours
  • Support the Trust Medication Safety Officer and Pharmacy Risk Governance Pharmacy Team with the medicines optimisation and governance agenda
  • Monitor the safe and secure storage of medication within the pharmacy department and on the wards
  • Implement local and national guidelines where appropriate, including NICE
  • Supervise trainee pharmacists, undergraduate students, and ward-based technicians
