The Financial Trainee Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the accounting and reporting functions related to fixed assets and IFRS16 right-of-use assets on a global scale.
This position also involves overseeing sub-lease and onerous lease accounting, managing revenue during month-end processes, and preparing variance analyses, ONS returns, and balance sheet reconciliations as necessary.
The Financial Trainee Accountant will support the Financial Control Manager in monitoring the status and accuracy of the balance sheet for the UK and EU, as well as in compiling documentation for the annual audit and the preparation of statutory financial statements for these regions.
Maintain a comprehensive global fixed asset register, including capitalizations, reconciliations, and reporting.- Accountable for accounting entries and reconciliations globally under IFRS16, ensuring alignment with IAS17, while managing the company's lease portfolio worldwide.
- Oversee month-end closing activities for the UK and EU, including revenue postings, accruals, prepayments, payroll, and other general ledger journal entries.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Finance team to analyze and clarify monthly variances.
- Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements.
- Prepare documentation for year-end and interim audits.
- Responsible for monthly reconciliations of IFRS 16 and fixed asset balance sheet accounts, investigating discrepancies and ensuring proper capitalization of assets in accordance with accounting standards.
- Aid in the preparation of monthly reports on balance sheet reconciliation status, identifying potential risks and exposures.
- Collaborate with Commercial Finance, Shared Services, Payroll, and Group Finance.
- Support the UK team with various project work as needed.
- Participate in UK Finance team initiatives, such as finance systems projects.
- Proficiency in utilizing various finance and management information systems.
- Actively pursuing ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualifications.
