Position Overview

Located in our Birmingham office and collaborating closely with the senior leadership team, the Advisory division, and the business development team, the Business Generation Manager (BGM) will play a crucial role in supporting the Birmingham leadership team to enhance market engagement and secure new business opportunities. The BGM will oversee the implementation of our Birmingham key client program, which includes strategizing for key bids and framework renewals, targeting prospective clients, and fostering relationships with our existing clientele.

This role involves developing branding and communication strategies to connect with the local Birmingham market, driving pipeline generation, and assisting our advisory practice in their market entry strategies, which can be disseminated throughout the broader business and executed in the Birmingham area. This is a hands-on position that requires the right candidate to maintain a strategic vision while leading initiatives. The role will work closely with our Senior Campaign Manager and other regional BGMs to ensure that activities align with our UK objectives and the broader Business Generation community.

Our Birmingham team is at the forefront of the most complex and fascinating projects currently underway in the region, influencing the infrastructure and real estate investments that bolster the local and regional economy. This dynamic role offers a variety of responsibilities and the opportunity to shape the direction of business generation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supporting the strategic hub lead and senior management team in driving business generation across various sectors, key accounts, and specific pursuits within Birmingham.
  • Ensuring the Birmingham teams develop an accurate and robust sales pipeline, providing insightful analysis directly to cost center leads, and using the pipeline to assess the level and pace of business generation activities.
  • Facilitating the development of pursuit teams for strategic opportunities, managing bid teams, and contributing to proposal content and presentation, while maintaining high standards and coaching teams as necessary.
  • Assisting the Hub lead in identifying strategic targets for Birmingham, developing pursuit plans for those targets, and holding key account teams accountable for plan execution.
  • Supporting key account plans and pursuits to drive activity linked to the Birmingham brand plan and profile enhancement, demonstrating progress and growth.
  • Identifying growth sectors for Birmingham and key market trends, translating these into effective campaigns, and ensuring their successful delivery in collaboration with the national team.
  • Developing a pipeline of brand-raising activities to maintain a strong profile with current and prospective clients, establishing essential forums and events for brand elevation.
  • Collaborating with the Senior Campaign Manager to maximize client-facing campaigns that drive business generation across the Advisory division, focusing on creating a strong pipeline and integrating Advisory services into strategic bids.
  • Championing national business generation initiatives within your team and across the organization as appropriate.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • A recognized professional qualification or equivalent experience in relevant skill areas, which may include a degree or qualification in marketing, communications, or business administration. The level of experience and candidate aptitude is more critical than formal qualifications.
