Chubb Systems is currently seeking a Lead Cost Consultant to operate from various locations. The primary objective of this role is to oversee the financial aspects of a range of design and construction projects valued between £0.5 million and £10 million.

This position is hybrid, requiring work from multiple locations, including remote work and project sites across the country. Overnight stays near project locations may be necessary. The ideal candidate will possess a robust and determined character, complemented by a solid technical foundation. They should be a collaborative team member while also capable of working independently when required, with a focus on targets and results.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Administration:

  • Management of Main Contract(s), including support with Project Control data, Change Management, and Cash flow management.
  • Comprehensive administration of Subcontract Agreements within the portfolio, including the execution of the project subcontract strategy.
  • Provide expert advice on various standard forms of agreements (such as FIDIC, JCT, NEC, ICE, etc.), ensuring best practices are implemented throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to completion.
  • Assist in the development and management of procurement and negotiation processes for all Subcontracts.
  • Commercial oversight of all Subcontract works – NEC3 (and other standard forms and options).
  • Manage Change processes, including assessing and agreeing on value implications for Subcontractors.
Project Management
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to identify early warnings within the Subcontract framework.
  • Assist in the administration of Instructions and related documentation.
  • Support the preparation of precise project control information to assess progress against the established construction timelines.
Compliance
  • Ensure the team adheres to ethical standards, quality, and health & safety requirements, making certain all members understand and comply with health & safety policies.
  • Maintain a safe working environment both on-site and off-site.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience with the JCT standard suite of Contracts is essential.
  • Proven experience with the NEC 3 suite of Contracts is essential.

Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Graduate-level education with a hands-on approach to business processes, sharing and implementing best practices.
  • Experience in quantifying works according to Standard Measurement Rules.
  • Experience in Contract Administration for both Client and Subcontract roles.
  • Ability to manage and influence confrontational and challenging situations professionally.
