About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a vital role in providing a comprehensive pharmaceutical service to our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services to delegated wards, advising junior and senior medical staff and nurses on effective and safe prescribing and administration of medicines.
  • Participate in the provision of a comprehensive pharmaceutical service to Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and to those organisations with which the Trust has a contract for supply of pharmaceutical services.
  • Undertake clinical pharmacy duties to delegated wards, advising junior and senior medical staff and nurses on effective and safe prescribing and administration of medicines.
  • Provide training and support to undergraduate, pre-registration pharmacists, and less experienced pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and, where requested, other ward staff.
  • Undertake risk assessments and implement risk-reducing measures, where appropriate, reviewing and updating safe systems of work on a regular basis.

Person Specification
  • MPharm or equivalent academic qualification.
  • Completed Pre-Registration year leading to Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Current membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Preregistration year completed or to be registered with GPHC by the start date of the post if undertaking preregistration year at the time of interview.
  • Good basic pharmaceutical and pharmacological knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively both alone and in a team.
