Role Overview:

The Solar Construction Project Manager will be instrumental in overseeing the internal project team leading up to the execution of construction contracts. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure the successful delivery of solar projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage an internal project team in preparation for construction contract finalizations.
  • Collaborate with the development team to fulfill planning conditions.
  • Assist the procurement team during the contract negotiation phase.
  • Prepare essential pre-construction documentation and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) materials.
  • Develop and maintain the pre-construction risk register, project schedule, and budget.
  • Evaluate contractor proposals to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Fulfill client obligations under the Construction (Design and Management) regulations.
  • Embed health and safety policies within project execution.
  • Oversee construction contracts, including those with the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) supplier and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors.
  • Manage client responsibilities, including planning variations and coordination of essential equipment.
  • Monitor and assess contractual variations and time extensions.
  • Regularly review and update key project management documents.
  • Coordinate engineering resources and contractors to establish a commissioning and energization plan.
  • Work with the commercial operations team on revenue readiness, including supplier appointments and licensing.
  • Support pre-qualification for market participation.
  • Ensure the Asset Manager is ready for operational activities.
  • Track project budgets and forecast future expenditures.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in managing the construction delivery of solar projects (minimum of two).
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Proactive approach to health, safety, and quality management.
  • Commercially astute with a solid understanding of construction safety and CDM regulations.
  • Experience in managing contractor deliverables under FIDIC, NEC, or similar contracts.
