About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Adoption Social Worker to join our team at Oldham Council. As an Adoption Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and families through the adoption process, ensuring that they receive the best possible care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, assess, and support prospective adopters
  • Work with families at all stages of the adoption process, from initial enquiry to adoption orders
  • Prepare extensive reports for Panels and Courts
  • Deliver preparation groups to prospective adopters and training to colleagues and other professionals
  • Manage and prioritize a busy caseload, completing work to target timescales
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for looked-after children
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Post-qualifying experience in a statutory childcare setting, ideally including work in an adoption service
  • Particular strengths in report writing, social work analysis, and confidence as a trainer and facilitator
