Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated full-time or part-time Pharmacy Assistant/Trainee Pharmacy Assistant to become a vital part of our dynamic and supportive pharmacy team at Marsh Medical Practice.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be a motivated and professional individual with strong communication abilities and the capacity to manage their tasks effectively. While prior experience in a healthcare environment and familiarity with a clinical system would be beneficial, it is not mandatory. The primary responsibilities of this role include the issuance and dispensing of repeat prescriptions along with associated tasks.

Job Duties

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Dispensing both acute and authorized repeat prescriptions as required.
  • Managing and monitoring medication inventory in line with established guidelines and reordering supplies as necessary.
  • Addressing patient inquiries regarding medications and collaborating with healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Coordinating with external pharmacies, drug manufacturers, and wholesalers to ensure timely availability of medications for patients.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized dispensary area and ensuring proper disposal of expired medications through approved methods.
  • Staying informed about current practices, prescribing trends, and relevant government regulations.
  • Keeping accurate records of all dispensing activities for patients.
  • Responding promptly to any drug alerts or bulletins received.
  • Collaborating effectively as part of the pharmacy team.
  • Adhering to safety protocols in compliance with legislative requirements and standard operating procedures.
  • Upholding confidentiality and data protection standards in accordance with local and national regulations.
  • Embracing an ethos of equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.
  • Participating in mandatory training and audits as required.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSEs in English and Maths at grades A to C.

Desirable

  • Candidates should ideally possess at least an NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing or an equivalent qualification, or be willing to pursue such a qualification. Recent college graduates will also be considered.

  • We seek an enthusiastic and professional individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. Previous experience in a healthcare setting and familiarity with a clinical system would be advantageous.
