We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Haematologist to join our team at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. As a key member of our Haematology department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive Haemato-Oncology, General Haematology, and Laboratory Haematology services to patients at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL).
- Work collaboratively with Consultant colleagues, junior doctors, nurses, laboratory staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent patient care.
- Contribute to the clinical leadership of service transformations, including the development of a high-quality service in Haemato-Oncology, General Haematology, and Laboratory Haematology.
- Participate in on-call rota on a 1:5 basis at UHL and take part in managerial duties in the Department and Trust.
- Undertake CME/CPD as required by the College and facilitated by funds from the Trust.
- Take part in Clinical Governance as a practicing clinician and to seek to maintain clinical and laboratory standards.
- Teach and train junior doctors, medical students, laboratory, and other healthcare professionals.
- MBBS or equivalent qualification.
- MRCP or equivalent qualification.
- FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
- Full and Specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
- Experience of all aspects of clinical and laboratory haematology with a broad base in Adult Haematology service delivery capabilities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Evidence of leadership and organisational ability.
- Able to take responsibility and cope with stressful situations.
- Able to get on with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Credibility and integrity.
- A sympathetic approach to patients and relatives.
- Ability to establish good professional relationships with others.
- Punctuality, reliability, and enthusiasm.
- Satisfactory Occupational Health clearance.
- IT skills for day-to-day work.
- Additional degrees, such as BSc, MSc, MD, or PhD.
- General Haematology service overview.
- Specialist interest in Haemoglobinopathies.
- Experience of NHS structures and Governance.
- Evidence of devising and conducting audit.
- Evidence of managing Change in Service.
- Completion of a course or certificate related to teaching/training.
- Will have attended an NHS Management Course appropriate to consultant duties.
- GCP trained and certified.
