Commercial Legal Counsel Role

Are you a proactive and adaptable commercial lawyer looking for a challenging opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive team? We are seeking a talented individual to join our Operations & Technology International Legal Team as a Commercial Legal Counsel.

This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives on the challenges of a broad and busy commercial lawyer role. As a Commercial Legal Counsel, you will provide legal support, advice, and guidance across a range of assigned practice areas, including commercial contracts, complex outsourcing negotiations, technology law, and data protection law.

You will work closely with our Procurement Team to provide legal counsel and support in relation to third-party supplier and outsourcing contracts. Your expertise will be essential in helping us navigate the complexities of the financial services sector and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

We are looking for a commercial lawyer with relevant experience in the banking/financial industry or a law firm/in-house legal function. You will have a good understanding of applicable EU and UK legal and regulatory obligations, including data protection law, regulatory outsourcing, and operational resilience requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support, advice, and guidance across a range of assigned practice areas
  • Work closely with the Procurement Team to provide legal counsel and support in relation to third-party supplier and outsourcing contracts
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable EU and UK legal and regulatory obligations
  • Develop and implement effective legal strategies to support business objectives
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality legal services

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in the banking/financial industry or a law firm/in-house legal function
  • Good understanding of applicable EU and UK legal and regulatory obligations
  • Strong technical legal drafting skills
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities and work under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
