As a key member of the Underwriting team, you will engage in activities that support the generation of Renewal, Mid-Term Amendments, and New Business quotations, adhering to established Underwriting guidelines, service level agreements, and operational standards.
Your Role:
Utilizing your expertise, you will strive to meet income objectives across various insurance products while inspiring your colleagues to achieve similar goals. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with technical standards and nurturing relationships with Brokers and Insurance Partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver Renewal, Mid-Term Adjustment, and New Business quotations to Broker Partners within your authority limits.
- Engage in ongoing communication with Broker partners regarding assigned renewals and quotations to secure instructions and meet both individual and team targets.
- Provide precise and compliant quotations for Renewals and Mid-Term Adjustments, ensuring alignment with pricing structures and risk selection criteria to achieve income and conversion goals.
- Collaborate with Business Development to drive growth in line with targets while maintaining agreed loss ratios in underwriting.
- Employ effective communication and negotiation skills to articulate the features and advantages of our products, ensuring that Brokers are fully informed of sales and upselling opportunities.
- Comply with the Operating Procedure Manual and the Business Unit Supplemental Operating Procedure Manual, as well as Underwriting guidelines at all times.
- Ensure that Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles are thoroughly understood and applied across all business partnerships.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by your Team Leader or Product Manager.
- Experience in a regulated FCA environment is preferred.
- Previous underwriting experience in Liability, Motor, Professional Risks, or Property is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the Broker market and the ability to cultivate effective broker relationships.
- Solid understanding of underwriting guidelines for all transactions, including renewals, endorsements, and cancellations, along with a working knowledge of market wordings and products.
