Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assay Development Scientist to join our development team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development, optimization, and validation of biology that underpins our future rapid multi-pathogen testing platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, perform, and analyze experiments to develop and optimize assay protocols.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and methods to ensure efficient development of the assay.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test and optimize sample consumables and ensure seamless integration with the assay hardware.
  • Liaise with external partners to gather validated data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Validate selected pathogens in controlled laboratory conditions.
  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize results for presentation at internal meetings.
  • Contribute to discussions and share research findings with colleagues.
  • Document research findings clearly in an electronic lab notebook.
  • Assist in producing and collating procedures, guidelines, and reports.
  • Prepare project plans and reports.
  • Contribute to general laboratory duties.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively to meet changing project demands.
  • Maintain best practice, quality standards, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and protocols and support their implementation.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the company and with collaborators.
Requirements
  • PhD or MSc (with a minimum of four years of laboratory experience) in a biology, bioengineering, biomedical sciences, or biophysics-related discipline.
  • Expertise in fluorescence microscopy.
  • Practical experience of assay development in an industrial or product development environment.
  • Broad knowledge of biological sciences with an emphasis on imaging pathogenic systems.
  • Capacity to execute tasks independently to achieve company goals on an established timeline.
  • Superb communication, organization, attention-to-details, multi-tasking, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for laboratory safety procedures.
  • Enthusiasm to work in a dynamic research environment.
Desirable Skills
  • Ability to design and perform experiments such as real-time PCR and protein purification.
  • Expertise in fluorescence labeling techniques.
  • Expertise in microorganism immobilization techniques.
  • Expertise in handling and preparing pathogen samples for imaging.
