Role Overview
The University of York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to support teaching on the Department's undergraduate programmes in Psychology. As a Tutor in Psychology, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching, marking, and student supervision, while also providing advice on study skills and learning problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of undergraduate teaching in Psychology, including holding tutorials and other forms of teaching.
- Contribute to the development and application of innovative teaching techniques and materials.
- Mark and assess student work, providing constructive feedback to enhance student learning.
- Supervise students, providing guidance on study skills and assisting with learning problems.
- Design and deliver teaching materials, either across a range of modules or within a subject area.
- Manage and deliver own teaching, including planning, organizing, and assessing teaching contributions.
- Engage with students, staff, and other stakeholders to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
- A degree in Psychology, with a PhD in Psychology being desirable.
- Detailed knowledge in an area of Psychology relevant to the Department.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to design and deliver teaching materials, as well as supervise students and provide advice on study skills.
- Experience in teaching and learning in Higher Education, or a similar context.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to student success.
