Treasurer Role

Durham Wildlife Trust is a leading conservation charity dedicated to protecting and restoring nature in our region. As a key member of our Board of Trustees, the Treasurer plays a vital role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure effective financial administration and management.
  • Provide expert advice to the Board of Trustees on financial matters, including budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Chair the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee to ensure robust financial governance and oversight.
  • Work closely with auditors to ensure statutory accounts are prepared, audited, and submitted to the relevant authorities.
  • Advise the Trust Council on the management of the charity's property and investment of its funds.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accountancy or finance, with experience of managing finances on a similar scale. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners.

The Treasurer will be expected to adhere to the Nolan's seven principles of public life and operate within the governance and policy framework set by Durham Wildlife Trust.
