Job Summary
Campion Pickworth is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter to join its underwriting team. As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a critical role in achieving business goals through diligent, timely, and comprehensive underwriting.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Chief Credit Officer and Head of Underwriting in achieving business objectives through effective risk-based assessment and compliant decision-making of loan applications.
- Collaborate with the Credit Management Team to review and implement credit and risk strategies, training, and knowledge sharing.
- Lead by example with a positive 'can-do' approach and help build a cohesive Credit Management team to demonstrate collective expertise, professionalism, and maturity in a dynamic and diverse culture.
- Analyze, assess, and document compliant credit decisions of loan applications within a robust mandate structure.
- Provide oversight of credit workflow to help deliver excellent services within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Monitor Credit Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across the portfolio and consider a balance between returns and risk exposure.
- Assist with the preparation and review of credit reports for management, committees, and nominated third parties.
- Enhance liaison and communication within the wider Credit Management function and with other internal functions to optimize the client experience.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in credit and underwriting in mortgages, real estate, or secured finance.
- Ability to interpret financial statements, management accounts, and individual financials to demonstrate affordability.
- Strong numeracy, data-driven, reporting, and Excel skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to customers, the credit team, and line management.
- Highly organized and attentive to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, on multiple tasks, and to tight deadlines.
