Job Title: Engineering Systems Manager

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Systems Manager to join our team at Ultra Maritime. As a key member of our engineering function, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality systems engineering solutions to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and mentor a team of System Engineers, providing technical direction and managing their work to ensure successful project outcomes.
  2. Develop and implement systems engineering tools, processes, and capabilities to support current and future programmes, ensuring compliance with project and statutory requirements.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver systems engineering artefacts, resulting in positive project outcomes.
  4. Plan, coordinate, and present during internal and external design reviews, ensuring successful events and effective communication with senior management and customers.
  5. Manage customers and external suppliers to ensure compliance with agreed processes and achievement of project objectives, while maintaining a secure and controlled environment.
  6. Estimate time and effort required for systems activities and deliver on these estimates to ensure cost and schedule adherence.
  7. Review and approve technical documents, chair technical reviews for significant deliverables, and explain technically complex concepts clearly to less technical parties.
Requirements:
  1. Solid understanding and deployment of the Systems Engineering discipline into complex engineering programmes, ensuring project successes.
  2. Experience developing high-quality requirements and establishing a fully compliant systems design.
  3. Experience in writing high-quality technical documentation and the formal technical review of such material.
  4. Experience of JAMA and hands-on development of either hardware, software, or firmware, particularly in an embedded environment.

A degree in an engineering, mathematical or science-based subject or equivalent experience is required. Previous experience in the defence industry delivering complex platforms/systems is a plus.

Please note the successful candidate must be able to obtain relevant security vetting level status required for the role.
