Expert Speech and Language Therapist - Youth Services
We are excited to announce a new opportunity within the South Tyneside Youth Services. This role involves establishing a fresh initiative aimed at enhancing service delivery and contributing to ongoing development and evaluation. You will engage with young individuals currently involved with the Youth Services, providing essential support at various levels including universal, targeted, and specialized interventions.
Your responsibilities will include conducting direct assessments and interventions, creating training resources for fellow professionals, and collaborating with colleagues across the Youth Justice sector and other relevant teams to assist young people and their families.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in understanding the strengths and needs of young individuals, helping to formulate comprehensive support plans.
You will also be integrated into the broader team of Speech and Language Therapists within the South Tyneside and Sunderland area. Our team is known for its innovative approaches and continuous growth, with therapists working collaboratively across various sectors such as mental health and social care.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Deliver expert assessments and guidance for children and young individuals supported by the Youth Services as part of a comprehensive care team.
- Develop accessible resources to assist children and young people in enhancing their communication skills.
- Provide training and advice to Youth Services staff and other relevant agencies to empower them in supporting individual needs.
- Assist Youth Services personnel in implementing interventions by integrating communication strategies and modifying language to improve outcomes.
- Work with children and young people who have faced trauma, or who have social, emotional, or mental health challenges, or who exhibit neurodiversity.
- Offer supervision, mentorship, and clinical support to students and trained professionals.
You will be encouraged to cultivate your innovative, research, and leadership capabilities in this new position, aimed at enhancing patient care and outcomes.
