GSL Education is in search of a passionate and qualified EAL Instructor to support students for whom English is a secondary language. This position involves working with diverse learners, focusing on enhancing their language skills and academic performance.

Position Overview:

As an EAL Instructor, your primary responsibility will be to provide specialized English language education to students whose native language is not English. You will collaborate with classroom educators to assess students' requirements, create tailored learning strategies, and evaluate their progress. Your aim is to assist students in overcoming linguistic challenges, thereby enabling them to engage fully with their educational experience.

Key Duties:

  • Design and execute effective EAL programs customized to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Deliver personalized instruction in one-on-one or small group settings to facilitate language learning.
  • Work alongside subject teachers to incorporate EAL methodologies into general classroom practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, adapting teaching methods as necessary to achieve language development objectives.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere that builds confidence and encourages active participation.
  • Assist students in accessing the wider curriculum and extracurricular activities.
  • Engage with families to provide additional resources and support for language development at home.
Essential Qualifications for EAL Instructors:
  • Appropriate UK teaching qualification, such as a PGCE with QTS, TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with EAL students within an educational context.
  • Comprehensive understanding of language acquisition and effective strategies for supporting EAL learners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and nurturing educational environment.
  • Possession of an Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
