Position: Senior Solutions Architect for Financial Services at AWS EMEA SARL (UK Branch)

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is on the lookout for a skilled and driven technologist who possesses a rare blend of industry insight, technical expertise, and excellent interpersonal abilities for the role of Senior Solutions Architect focused on Financial Services.

In this role, you will engage with top-tier financial services organizations, collaborate with AWS Sales, and work alongside various AWS teams to craft scalable, adaptable, and robust cloud architectures that tackle industry-specific challenges and promote the adoption of AWS services.

The ideal candidate will have a background as a solutions architect within a financial services firm, industry solution providers, or systems integrators, showcasing proficiency in industry-specific solutions and a solid understanding of software development practices, including cloud DevOps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate the technical components of the strategic plan to enhance AWS adoption within the financial services sector
  • Build technical credibility during sales engagements with financial services clients and partners
  • Inform clients about the advantages of AWS in financial services and take part in architectural discussions for effective cloud implementation
  • Disseminate best practices within the AWS solutions architect community
  • Cultivate relationships with technical leaders in client organizations to champion cloud technology
  • Act as a technical intermediary between clients, service engineering teams, and support
  • Design solutions utilizing AWS technology, including proof-of-concept and prototype development
  • Be prepared for potential travel requirements of up to 25%

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field
  • Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience within financial services organizations and implementing solutions in regulated settings
  • Architectural experience in designing and executing large-scale solutions in the financial services domain
  • Comprehensive understanding of virtualization and cloud computing technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with distributed systems design and execution
  • Experience in delivering presentations and whiteboarding for both technical and executive audiences
  • Practical experience in architecting, migrating, or modernizing solutions to the cloud
  • Expertise in AWS or other cloud service providers and delivery models
  • In-depth knowledge of financial services-related applications and big data architectures
  • Capability to operate in ambiguous environments and within virtual teams
  • AWS certifications
