Position: Support Assistant for Special Educational Needs
Contract Type: Permanent, 40 hours per week, term time only
Hourly Rate: £12.78 per hour
Annual Salary: £22,835.30

Overview:

An opportunity exists for a Support Assistant at an educational establishment dedicated to equipping students with the skills necessary for adulthood. This role is integral to delivering tailored academic and vocational programs aimed at fostering independence, employment readiness, and further educational pursuits. Role Purpose:

The Support Assistant is essential in facilitating students' growth and aiding them in achieving autonomy within a supportive educational setting. Responsibilities include collaborating with teaching staff to implement a varied curriculum both in the classroom and during off-site activities. Flexibility is key, as duties will range from providing individual support to engaging in group activities. Effective behavior management is also a significant component of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Encourage and support students in their learning journey and quest for independence.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and assessment of educational programs and documentation.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and reporting of students' progress.
  • Promote self-sufficiency and maintain precise records.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and health and safety regulations.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and self-regulation skills among students.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A valid UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualifications in Mathematics and English.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships with students.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to addressing students' needs.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong skills in numeracy, literacy, and information and communication technology.

All stated pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position may initially be temporary, with the potential for a permanent role in the future.
