Job Overview

Tarmac, a leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions business, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Langford Sand and Gravel Quarry. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plant and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct predictive maintenance activities to identify potential issues and prevent equipment failures.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with the Computer Maintenance Management System to track and manage maintenance activities and equipment performance.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and failure mode and effect analysis to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics, and national and international codes and symbols used on drawings and specifications.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Apprentice trained or ONC/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance practices, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Experience with fabricating and welding.
  • Knowledge of TPM methodology and continuous improvement principles.
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering maintenance principles and practices.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to learn and apply health and safety rules applicable to each department.
