M&E Technician for Waste Management Operations

We are offering a rewarding opportunity for a Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Technician within our Waste Treatment Division.
Key Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the optimal performance of all machinery at our waste treatment facilities through both proactive and reactive maintenance strategies. The M&E role encompasses the following key duties:
- Maintenance of various equipment: This includes working with pumps and associated control systems, 3-phase motors, starters, electronic control systems like VSDs, automatic valves, and chemical handling equipment.
- Fault Investigation and Repair: You will be tasked with diagnosing and rectifying plant failures swiftly to minimize service interruptions, which may involve troubleshooting complex issues during operational incidents.
- Scheduled Maintenance: Conduct regular planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems in line with company protocols to enhance plant reliability.
- Technical Support: Provide guidance to the broader team, leveraging current technical knowledge and offering training or assistance to junior technical staff as necessary.
- On-call Duties: Participation in a 24/7 standby rota will be required following adequate training and evaluation.
Working Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including standby responsibilities.
Essential Qualifications:
- ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
- Mechanical NVQ 2/3 is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A valid UK driving license is required.
- Experience in an electrical apprenticeship with an 18th Edition qualification is essential.
- Physical fitness is necessary as the role involves working in confined spaces.
- Awareness of health and safety regulations is critical.
- Experience in electrical systems in a multi-skilled capacity is preferred.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and contribute to the team.
- Ability to respond quickly to faults and identify effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive approach to site improvements and recommendations.
- Competitive salary ranging from £30,000 to £37,500 per annum based on experience.
- Annual Leave: 24 days per year, increasing to 28 with service, plus bank holidays.
