Position Overview

The Ministry of Defence Guard Service (MGS) is dedicated to delivering exceptional security solutions across more than 170 MOD locations throughout the United Kingdom. With over three decades of experience safeguarding critical sites, including prominent establishments, MGS plays a crucial role in supporting the Defence Mission by protecting personnel and property from various threats such as crime, terrorism, and espionage.

Key Responsibilities

As a Security Officer, your primary duty will be to ensure the safety and security of Defence personnel, visitors, and assets. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing the security of assigned areas.
  • Conducting foot and vehicle patrols in accordance with established security protocols.
  • Identifying and addressing potential security threats.
  • Managing access control for vehicles and pedestrians, ensuring proper credentials are presented.
  • Conducting searches of vehicles, baggage, and personnel as necessary.
  • Managing traffic flow within designated areas.
  • Documenting incidents and maintaining daily security logs.
  • Responding promptly to emergencies and incidents.
  • Providing assistance to employees and visitors with their inquiries.
  • Escalating emergencies to law enforcement when required.
  • Monitoring security systems, including CCTV and alarms.
  • Communicating effectively via telephone and radio.
Qualifications

Applicants must possess a full UK Manual Driving Licence. Evidence of qualifications will be required during the interview process. All declared qualifications must be valid at the time of application.
