Position: Environmental Consultant


Our client, a prominent independent operator in the Oil & Gas sector, is currently looking for an Environmental Consultant to join their Quality, Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (QSSHE) team.


This role is a full-time contract opportunity, where the successful candidate will provide essential environmental support to both onshore and offshore operations.


As the Environmental Consultant, your primary responsibility will be to identify and implement effective risk management strategies throughout the lifecycle of operations, from initiation to decommissioning, including project and drilling phases. You will also play a key role in supporting initiatives aimed at achieving Net Zero emissions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Environmental Consultant for multiple operational platforms and subsea tiebacks.
  • Oversee the management of all offshore permits, including OPPC, ETS, and Chemical Permits.
  • Provide technical guidance for Terminal Environmental Operations.
  • Develop an Environmental Management Plan outlining key initiatives and milestones in alignment with ISO14001 standards.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and compliance of ISO14001:2015.
  • Conduct scheduled audits and inspections as part of the compliance program.
  • Manage regulatory relationships with OPRED and BEIS.
  • Ensure timely submission of all required internal and external reports, including EEMS, OSPAR, OPPC, and SECR.
  • Advise the team on compliance with environmental policies and legislation.
  • Monitor and assess changes in environmental legislation and their potential impacts on operations.
  • Conduct site visits and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain Operational Pollution Emergency Plans (OPEPs).
  • Participate as a member of the Incident Management Team (IMT).
  • Provide oversight of the environmental components of the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) budget.


Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in the environmental sector within the offshore upstream Oil & Gas industry, particularly in advisory roles.
  • Comprehensive experience in offshore production, subsea operations, drilling, and well intervention.
  • Strong understanding of the UK regulatory environmental framework.
  • Knowledge of emissions management and trading schemes applicable to offshore operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • ISO14001 auditor certification.
  • Familiarity with SCR2015 and related systems.
  • Knowledge of SECR regulations.
  • Certification in BOSIET or FOET.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry or other high-risk sectors.
  • Full membership in IEMA or a similar professional body.
  • Experience in NORM Management or RPS.
