Candidates should possess a solid educational background; a valid driving license held for a minimum of one year, with no more than six current penalty points, and have access to a vehicle that is properly taxed, insured, and has a valid MOT. Following the initial selection process, candidates will be invited for a formal interview where they should demonstrate an understanding of the role and the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. Successful candidates will be required to complete the Level 3 Award for First Responders on Scene during their training to finalize the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities
As a volunteer and member of a Community Emergency Volunteer Scheme, you will provide this vital community service willingly and without compensation. This role is immensely fulfilling and offers opportunities to connect with new individuals and acquire valuable lifesaving skills through the training provided by the Trust.
It is crucial to articulate what makes you an outstanding Community Emergency Volunteer and how you fulfill the criteria outlined for the position. Please note, if there is not currently a Community Emergency Volunteer scheme operating within a three-mile radius of your home postcode, you may not be shortlisted. If you wish to respond from your workplace as well as or instead of your home address, please indicate this in the additional information section.
Please be aware that you must be available to attend the in-person interview and all training sessions:
Interviews will be conducted in person, and the training course will be scheduled over several weekends.
