Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom Stantec UK Full time
The Opportunity

At Stantec, we pride ourselves on our longstanding reputation built through years of successful projects. As we embark on an exciting growth phase, we are expanding our multi-disciplinary teams. Our core values are:
  • Commitment to achievement;
  • Prioritizing people;
  • Upholding integrity; and
  • Collaboration for success.
These principles guide our collaborative efforts, enabling us to assist clients in meeting their project goals. We strive to make a positive impact by designing with communities in mind, aiming for optimal environmental and social results.

We are currently on the lookout for Environmental Planners at the Senior and Senior Associate levels to join our team on a permanent basis. With a flexible work model that includes both home and office environments, we support a healthy work-life balance while fostering effective teamwork. We welcome applications from candidates across the UK.

Our diverse growth supports projects in various sectors, particularly in major energy and infrastructure initiatives. We are engaged in innovative energy projects, including carbon capture and storage, renewable energy solutions, hydrogen, and transmission & distribution.

As we contribute to some of the most significant projects in the country, we seek candidates whose ambitions align with our vision.

In the Senior / Principal role, you will play a key part in the planning and execution of energy and infrastructure projects, providing guidance to clients throughout the development process. Your responsibilities will include managing EIA screening and scoping activities, as well as preparing Environmental Statements and reviewing technical contributions alongside other environmental and planning-related documentation.

Associates and Senior Associates will have the opportunity to lead and guide the planning and execution of energy and infrastructure projects, advising clients throughout the development process. You will oversee environmental teams, manage Environmental Impact Assessments, and prepare relevant environmental and planning reports. Collaboration with senior leadership will be essential in developing client relationships, and you will also be expected to mentor junior team members, playing a vital role in the team's growth.

Your contributions will extend to single and multi-disciplinary proposal bids and the financial oversight of our project initiatives.

This position offers a chance to work in a truly multi-disciplinary setting, providing access to a wealth of knowledge and support from experts across the organization. The role is expected to encompass a variety of environmental planning tasks, delivering integrated environmental services.

About You
You will possess substantial experience in environmental planning, ideally with a focus on the energy sector, and be either chartered or pursuing chartership. A comprehensive understanding of environmental issues and disciplines, along with familiarity with various consenting frameworks and development management processes (such as Town and Country Planning & Planning Act, Hybrid Bill, etc.) is essential. While DCO experience is not mandatory, it would be advantageous.

Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams, a successful track record in project financial management, and exceptional communication skills at all levels are crucial.

Your ability to manage and mentor colleagues will be a significant asset. Ideally, you will showcase the competency and adaptability necessary to meet the demands of this role. Stantec welcomes applications from all office locations, with options for full-time or part-time arrangements.
