About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tunnel Ventilation Engineer to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our tunnel ventilation team, you will play a crucial role in designing and analysing tunnel ventilation systems for both normal and emergency operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyse tunnel ventilation systems to ensure safe and efficient airflow
  • Assess fire and life safety systems to ensure compliance with client specifications and worldwide standards
  • Work on a range of underground facilities and tunnels, including metro systems, railway stations, road tunnels, and cable tunnels
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver tunnel projects worldwide
  • Develop and implement fluid mechanics and thermodynamics models for fire and ventilation analysis
Requirements
  • Proven experience in tunnel ventilation design, fire and life-safety design, and mechanical engineering
  • Excellent technical skills and numeracy skills acquired through academic background and professional experience
  • Advanced user of 1D design tools, such as IDA for Road and SES for rail
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics modelling and visualisation using programs like FDS, Pyrosis, and Smoke view
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and standards applicable in tunnel ventilation design
