Key Responsibilities

As a Care Assistant, your primary duties will include:

  • Delivering comprehensive daily care tailored to the individual needs of residents. This encompasses personal hygiene assistance, mobility support, medication management (as appropriate), infection control, and providing support for residents with dementia and end-of-life care. Additional tasks include changing bed linens, managing laundry, safely disposing of clinical waste, and overseeing stock levels of essential equipment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 2 in Care (or equivalent qualification or experience) for Senior Care Assistants.
  • Ability to provide personal care with dignity, including assistance with nutrition, bathing, and toileting.
  • Education at GCSE level (or equivalent) including mathematics and English.
  • Confidence in using IT, with a basic understanding of Word and Email.
  • Awareness of the needs of older individuals and a foundational understanding of dementia.

Desirable

  • Level 2 in Care (or equivalent qualification or experience).
  • Level 3 in Care (or willingness to pursue this) for Senior Care Assistants.
  • Experience working with older adults, individuals with disabilities, and/or those with dementia.
  • Experience in a nursing home, hospital, sheltered housing, or social care environment.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid, manual handling, and food hygiene practices.
  • Familiarity with regulations and frameworks established by the CQC Essential Standards of Quality and Safety and the Mental Capacity Act. Training will be provided.
