Job Title: Electrical Shift Supervisor - Critical Facilities Lead

Location: City of London

Reporting to: Assistant Chief Engineer (ACE)

Hours: Continental Shift
Salary: £50k - £54.5k

Position Concept

As the post holder, you will be expected to have an extensive understanding of Critical Facilities/Data Centre infrastructure (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & associated assets). As the lead member of the engineering shift team, you will be responsible for effective inspection, operation and maintenance of all associated assets within the critical facility, focusing on critical facilities risk management and enhancing the service delivery quality through effective leadership.

You will ensure that the conduct of any personnel under your control is safe, professional, and conscientious. You will also be required to attend site meetings with the client and on behalf of the client as requested, driving a Safety-First culture throughout the team.

One of the key activities involves the role of authorised person for 11kV Electrical Systems. You will be authorised to issue PTW, ensuring compliance with method statements, risk assessments, and Integral Health and Safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and support the site-based engineering team, including internal and MEP responsibilities.
  • Operate all systems within the facility effectively and efficiently, making recommendations for improvement and providing concise technical reports when required.
  • Control all activities relating to the technical and efficient operation of the installed building systems, including compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Prepare, plan, and support Specialist Vendor Planned, Reactive, and Corrective Works, ensuring relevant Change Management approval is submitted for all critical works.
  • Ensure Specialist Vendor worksheets are signed off where necessary and that the quality of work has been inspected.
  • Provide backup as engineering relief cover in emergencies, which may require temporary Shift working.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Act as key operator of the Corrigo CMMS system, ensuring MEP PPM, Reactive, and Corrective Work Orders/Tasks are accurately completed within SLA.
  • Attend weekly operations meetings and client meetings as requested.
  • Assist the Assistant Chief Engineer/Chief Engineer in completing the Monthly and Quarterly Engineering Report.
  • Contribute to engineering risk reporting and critical systems availability.
  • Complete shift handover reports and ensure effective communication with oncoming shifts.
  • Control critical spares and maintain a site stock register.
  • Compile critical incident & near miss reports and after-action reviews.
  • Ensure MEP planned maintenance is undertaken in line with OEM/SFG20 requirements.
  • Escalate operational issues immediately in line with local site processes.
  • Review service reports of Specialist Vendors and follow up on recommendations.
  • Produce Site-Specific SOP/MOP/EOP.
  • Assist in delivering critical infrastructure scenario training and developing engineers within the team.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work.
  • Escalate Specialist Vendor performance issues accurately.
  • Maintain minimum levels of resourcing onsite and support suitable cover arrangements.
  • Actively participate in site ONWH escalation and support 24/7 operations.
  • Take ownership of areas under INTEGRAL control, ensuring they meet required standards.
  • Liaise with the supply chain for M&E components for remedial works.
  • Attend training courses as identified by INTEGRAL management.
  • Conduct Site Specific Technical Assessments and Skills Gap Analysis.
  • Coach new employees during the onboarding process.
  • Participate in engineering Quality Assurance processes.
  • Complete responsibilities in line with the site-based MEP responsibilities matrix.
  • Respond to AladinWorks Alarm Response and Escalations for critical alarms while on shift duty.

Personal Specification:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Critical Environments such as Banking HQ and Data Centres.
  • HV Authorised Person (Experienced with HV Systems).
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering HNC or HND (Successfully completed apprenticeship).
  • C&G Pts. 1 & 2, equivalent or exceeds.
  • 17th Edition IEE: Wiring and Installation (Ability to attain 18th Edition through additional training).
  • C&G 2391 test and inspection; BS 7671:2001 for inspection, testing, and certification.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to deal with all staff levels.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and direct a small team of engineers.
  • Proactive in achieving high operational standards.
  • Good IT and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure while remaining calm and clear-thinking.
  • Individuals with commitment and experience but not meeting all technical qualifications may be considered subject to Operations Directors approval.
  • Willingness to attend on and off-site training for MEP assets.
  • Physical fitness.
  • A high level of initiative and drive for continuous improvement.
  • A smart, presentable corporate appearance.
  • Advanced communication skills with a full understanding of customer needs.
  • Ability to comprehend and act upon verbal and written instructions.
  • Enthusiasm, diligence, and alertness with willingness to participate in training programmes.
  • Integrity, honesty, and punctuality are expected.
