Position Overview
We are looking for a committed and skilled, GPhC-registered, Advanced Pharmacy Technician with experience in NHS primary or secondary care settings, including community pharmacy. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, capable of prioritizing and managing their workload effectively within a broad framework of guidelines. You should possess the ability to evaluate and interpret complex data, applying your judgment to develop solutions. Strong persuasive and diplomatic skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication abilities, are essential.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will collaborate with other specialists and technical staff, as well as external partners such as the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England, and NICE. Initially, you will be encouraged to seek guidance from colleagues, but as you gain experience, you will work both independently and as part of a team to implement NHS Drug Tariff processes. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing information to support the Department of Health and Social Care's Remuneration and Reimbursement Policy.
- Processing and evaluating submissions from manufacturers and suppliers for the inclusion of their medical devices in the relevant section of the NHS England and Wales Drug Tariff.
- Collecting, processing, and monitoring data related to pharmaceutical products and ensuring their accurate representation in the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d).

Accountabilities
As part of your role, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting senior personnel in activities on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care, ensuring effective communication regarding pharmaceutical and medicinal products with relevant stakeholders.
- Utilizing your pharmaceutical expertise to research and compile information for the Drug Tariff and the dm+d.
- Evaluating applications for inclusion in Part IX, assessing potential impacts on prescribing data and primary care reimbursement.
- Producing reports to support the appraisal of Drug Tariff applications, which may involve further consultation with various stakeholders.
- Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers regarding product and pricing information.
- Reviewing diverse information sources to identify necessary amendments and ensuring data quality.
- Monitoring products in the Drug Tariff and assisting in identifying potential changes.
- Demonstrating a commitment to flexible working practices to maximize the skills and experience of all staff.
- Participating in organization-wide working groups relevant to your expertise.
- Contributing to both long- and short-term planning within your work area.
- Identifying and implementing policy and service developments in line with organizational strategies.
- Acting as an authorized signatory for expenditures up to £1,000.
- Overseeing the day-to-day management of a team, including input on performance monitoring and development plans.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- Strong understanding of the Drug Tariff and NHS reimbursement policies.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Qualifications
Essential:
- BTEC or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- Registered member of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent in a science-related field.
